Remko Willems composed the original score for the feature documentary Anak Indië, directed by Hetty Naaijkens-Retel Helmrich.Produced by Scarabeefilms and distributed by Periscoop Film, the film explores identity, migration, and cultural memory within the Indo-Dutch community.For the score, Willems developed a deeply textural and emotionally resonant sound, combining a wide range of string instruments with custom-built and experimental sound sources. Driven by a search for historical timbre and sonic authenticity, he constructed self-built string instruments and explored forgotten sound qualities to evoke a fragile, time-layered musical identity.Blending these handcrafted elements with contemporary cinematic textures, the score forms an intimate and immersive sonic narrative.• Kristallen Film Award (Netherlands Film Festival)
